Born in Lima and moving to Miami, Florida, at a young age, cordova negotiates the cultural nuances of these differing environments within his larger exploration of social histories and material creation. Afro-Peruvian cosmology and Andean architecture manifest as vital structures to the compositions of his work, animated by gold leaf, paint, collage, and a variety of found and reclaimed elements. Incorporating contemporary artistic references and monuments of resistance with ancient geometries and cosmological formations, cordova opens a path to a shared network of spiritual memory and cultural history beyond the ephemeral nature of our own existence.
