Yanira Collado's monumental structure considers the layers of historical and cultural associations around the bandana: from the origin of the kerchief in South Asia, to the adoption of Zoroastrian symbols in what would become known as the "paisley" design, to its contemporary significations across various subcultures. Collaging the bandanas within a framework of unfinished 2x4s and repurposed cardboard boxes, Collado brings the textile's trans-spatial and temporal lineages into the material history of her own family's labor in garment work and construction.
